The group that started Ghost Machine celebrated its first anniversary in October 2024. The group developed the created-owned comics so they could benefit from their intellectual properties, which were foreign in the industry. Most comics are owned by their publishers, such as DC Comics. That is until these experienced comic-industry veterans decided it was time to make a change; one that would benefit the creators.
The Launch of Ghost Machine:
Ghost Machine Comics launched on October 12, 2023. They announced their new venture at the 2023 Comic Con in New York. The company was co-founded by industry creators who were held in high esteem. Ghost Machine was created to be a media company that would help develop screen-friendly titles that may or may not be brought to the big screen.
Ghost promised that in 2024, the group would be releasing several new titles from a variety of genres. Those included Geiger and Junkyard Joe and some new titles including Redcoat and Rook: Exodus. Comic lovers were anxious to see what the group would come up with and awaited the new titles.
New Titles Released:
As promised Ghost Machine introduced several new titles and readers were not disappointed. The new comic books continued the story of the Unnamed universe and characters that were part of the universe including Geiger and Junkyard Joe.
Here is an overview of the first 12 months of titles published by the group and a review of each,
- Geiger: Ground Zero 1 – 2: These first two titles were written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank. This is the same team that joined forces to introduce Geiger in 2021. The story takes place in 2050 during an apocalypse. This is perfectly captured in the muted colors displayed throughout the story. The second comiccontinues Tariq Geiger’s survival and search for humanity while fighting off those who are after him. Both issues were well received.
- Ghost Machine One Shot Redcoat 1 — 6: This series of books features a British redcoat by the name of Simon Pure. Each issue features stories of Pure meeting some of history’s most impressive figures like Annie Oakley, Albert Einstein, George Washington, and others. These are educational stories presented in a fun way.
- Rook: Exodus 1– 5: The first issue of Rook: Exodus was introduced as a sci-fi story that takes place in a future world. Rook is a struggling farmer dealing with a new world order and becomes a Warden who must fight or flee the planet. Each issue features another story about Rook and his fight for existence.
- Geiger (2024) 1 — 7: In these titles, Geiger finds a community in the midst of a wasteland, it was an American suburb. While he has a glimmer of hope he can recapture those glorious days of old, he is still pursuing the Glowing Man, who threatens to destroy everything.
With such a great start to their new concept, we look forward to seeing more stories from this group of talented comic book professionals.
